In a recent interview, Common let the world know he is ready to focus on criminal justice reform. The rapper/actor will become a Global Citizen Ambassador and is truly taking his new role seriously.

According to Billboard, Common will be focusing in specific in decriminalizing poverty.

"I want to bring a practical change in people's lives. I want to walk down Atlantic Avenue and see someone's life change because of Global Citizen and the work I'm doing," he said during his interview.

Common has been working with Global Citizen since 2005 and has also been working non-stop with his own non-profit foundation Imagine Justice.  Besides decriminalizing poverty, Common's goal with his work is to help repair the bail system.  "I want to help the people who are oppressed because of their skin, beliefs, and economics. I'm always in a fight for that." he shared.

Hugh Evans, co-founder of Global Citizen shared his excitement to work with Common by saying: "We are thrilled to be working together to reach our goal of ending extreme poverty by breaking down the criminalization of poverty that exists in overlooked and under-supported communities both in the U.S. and across the globe."
